2025-2027 Term Executive Board Elections

The UC San Diego Staff Association’s Elections Committee is excited to announce that we are now taking nominations for the 2026-28 Term Staff Association Executive Board (SAEB)!

We are currently seeking motivated staff members who are passionate about building community, supporting staff initiatives, and helping shape the staff experience at UC San Diego. Whether you are interested in professional development, wellness, outreach, recognition, or campus collaboration, there is a place for you on the board.

Serving on the Staff Association Executive Board is a great opportunity to:

  • Help create engaging programs and events for staff
  • Advocate for the staff community

Nomination and Election Timeline

Nominations Open: Now through Friday, June 5, 2026
Voting Period: June 8 – June 12, 2026
Election Results Announced: June 15, 2026

The deadline for nominations is Friday June 5, 2026.

Important Note

In alignment with our bylaws and current board composition, we especially encourage nominations from non-represented staff to help maintain balanced representation across the Board.

Unless otherwise noted, Functional Chair positions are two fiscal year appointments (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2028). The Special Projects & Collaborations Chair and Campus Community Relations Chair positions are one-year appointments ending June 30, 2027.

Assessment Chair

Supports surveys, feedback collection, and assessment efforts to help guide Staff Association initiatives and measure impact.

Duties:

  1. Collaborates with assessment-related constituents, tracks assessment related to the Staff Association, and ensures active use of data to improve the Staff Association.
  2. Collaborates with the campus, UCOP, CUCSA, and other UCSD-related data collection to share with UCSD Staff Association.
  3. Identifies, recommends, and implements assessment initiatives to compliment or enhance currently available data, as needed.
  4. Synthesizes information into a report delivered annually.
  5. Assists in tracking and packaging impact of UCSD Staff Association efforts towards our strategic plan goals, includes in a regular reporting.
  6. Coordinates Staff Association engagement goals by reviewing and sharing engagement metrics Staff@Work and the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) Engagement Survey to meet.
  7. Oversees Engagement Survey Action Committee (renamed from “team”).
  8. Other tasks – voluntary and assigned by Chair.

Inclusion Chair

Promotes inclusive practices, representation, and opportunities that foster belonging across the staff community.

Duties: 

  1. Champions equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives for the Staff Association.
  2. Maintains active involvement with equity, diversity, and inclusion topics across the campus while incorporating relevant priorities in the UCSD Staff Association. Coordinates quarterly educational speaker(s) or activity(ies) focusing on EDI topics for the Staff Association Executive Board meetings.
  3. Serves as the Staff Association representative on the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Council.
  4. Oversees committee (ad hoc).
  5. Other tasks – voluntary and assigned by Chair.

Outreach and Engagement Chair

Builds connections with staff through events, outreach efforts, collaborations, and campus engagement opportunities.

Duties:

  1. Manages and coordinates Staff Association goals to drive staff engagement.
  2. Coordinates outreach activities to represent the Staff Association, including at tabling events, HR new employee orientations, campus initiatives and cultural celebrations.
  3. Supports Chair-Elect with oversight of campus committees, view https://staffassociation.ucsd.edu/involvement/committees.html.
  4. Utilizes staff engagement survey to develop and engage in activities to meet Staff Association engagement goals, and measure Staff Association impact to provide feedback to Assessment Chair.
  5. Oversees committee (ad hoc).
  6. Other tasks – voluntary and assigned by Chair.

Staff Recognition Chair

Leads efforts that celebrate and recognize staff achievements, contributions, and milestones across campus.

Duties:

  1. Supports the ongoing recognition of staff contributions to the UCSD community within the Staff Association and in collaboration with other UCSD units.
  2. Works to regularly recognize UCSD Staff Association members in innovative and ongoing ways.
  3. Collaborates with HR, VC areas, the Health System, and other UCSD staff-related areas to ensure activities and programs are in place to recognize staff contributions and success.
  4. Finds regular ways to highlight staff accomplishments through Staff Association modes of communication.
  5. Coordinates UCSD Staff Association end of the year/term recognition event with Immediate Past Chair.
  6. Develops opportunities to build up the rapport and encouragement of UCSD Staff Association members.
  7. Oversees committee (ad hoc).
  8. Other tasks – voluntary and assigned by Chair.

Wellness Chair

Supports staff wellness initiatives and promotes resources, programs, and activities focused on well-being.

Duties:

  1. Actively supports wellness through various collaborations and initiatives to meet the needs of UCSD staff.
  2. Serves as a liaison for initiatives that involve UCSD Staff Association in collaboration with campus wellness initiatives (https://blink.ucsd.edu/HR/benefits/work-life/health.html).
  3. Develops opportunities to support staff wellness through collaborations and UCSD Staff Association initiatives.
  4. Works closely with HR and other campus units or committees to enhance the wellness of our staff and the life-work balance.
  5. Oversees committee (ad hoc).
  6. Other tasks – voluntary and assigned by Chair.

Special Projects and Campus Collaboration Chair - 1 Year Term

Coordinates unique initiatives, partnerships, and special projects that align with Staff Association goals and priorities.

Duties:

  1. Maintains connections with important UC San Diego constituent groups, Vice Chancellor areas, and oversees the election processes of the Staff Association. 
  2. Tracks and encourages the UC San Diego Staff Association connection with UC San Diego constituent groups (i.e., Academic Senate, Committee on Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Issues, Associated Students, etc.) 
  3. Organizes the connection of the UC San Diego Staff Association board as points of contact with each VC, and maintains regular communications/reports for the UC San Diego Staff Association board. 
  4. Oversees the Election Committee
  5. Oversees committee (ad hoc) 
  6. Other tasks – voluntary and assigned by the Chair 

Campus Community Relations Chair - 1 Year Term

Strengthens relationships and communication between the Staff Association and the broader campus community.

Duties:

  1. Responsible for actively supporting the collaboration between the Staff Association and Staff Affiliate groups. Statement of interest should include any experience you have as a general member of or serving as a board member of an affiliate group at UC San Diego and why you would like to serve in this role. 
  2. Supports the Chair of the Staff Association in their work with Staff Affiliate Groups regarding communications, collaboration with the Staff Association, and ensuring consistency in support for these groups. 
  3. Encourages and assists with the facilitation of intersectional opportunities across UC San Diego  community-based constituent groups. 
  4. Other tasks – voluntary and assigned by the Chair.

About UC San Diego Staff Association Executive Board

The UC San Diego Staff Association is a service organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the staff experience across campus. Executive Board members collaborate throughout the year on staff engagement initiatives, events, advocacy efforts, communications, and community-building opportunities.

Executive Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings and actively participate in Staff Association initiatives and events.
