Annual Staff Summer Celebration

The Annual Staff Summer Celebration is an expression of gratitude for everything our staff does. This signature event celebrates our passionate, talented, and dedicated staff who help create and nurture a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative community.

This year, Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla and the Staff Association invite all of our staff to an in-person Staff Summer Celebration like “non” other.

UC San Diego was founded by people who were unafraid to explore nontraditional and nonconventional paths to new discoveries. A unique work culture blossomed, and innovation followed in nearly every area of campus and health. Staff like “non” other think outside the norm in order to find better solutions to big challenges and everyday issues. Just like our scholars, your work makes UC San Diego truly distinctive.

Registration

• All attendees must bring a lunch ticket and Staff ID to the picnic in order to receive a plate for food. For TES staff who do not have an ID, please see the instructions in your invitation email.
• Please cancel your lunch ticket if you cannot come to the event, to allow other staff the opportunity to participate.
• We are aiming to make this a zero-waste event. Please consider downloading your e-ticket to your mobile device instead of printing it.

• Visit the Staff Association booth for fun prizes.
• Snag a photo with your colleagues at the photo booth.
• Play lawn games in the lounge.
• Explore the Staff Association Affiliate Groups and receive giveaways.

Who runs the world? Girls! Rock out with us as we pay tribute to some of the best music of all time, by artists such as Aretha Franklin, Kelly Clarkson, Whitney Houston, Madonna, and so many more. Our show will take you back in time to iconic moments in music history, all while celebrating the talented women who have shaped our music and culture.

Parking & Shuttle Service

Main campus staff are encouraged to walk or use campus shuttles. Medical Center, Mesa Nueva, North Campus, SIO, South Campus, and West Campus Connector shuttles will be running during the summer sessions.

Special parking accommodations will be available for any off-campus staff in the Hopkins parking structure. Parking in “S”, “V”, and “B” spaces will be allowed from 10 am to 3 pm on Friday, August 19. Cart service will be available at the Hopkins parking structure for those who need additional assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need to bring my lunch ticket? YES - please bring a digital or printed copy of your lunch ticket to the event.
2. Do I need to bring my Staff ID? YES - please bring your staff ID. For TES staff who do not have an ID, please see the instructions in your invitation email.
3. Who can attend the event? This event is intended to appreciate staff. Lunch tickets are limited to UC San Diego staff.
4. Lunch tickets are sold out. Can I still participate on the day of the event? YES - There will be plenty of activities, live music, and fun for all, even without a lunch ticket.
5. Can I still get a lunch ticket? MAYBE - On the day of the event, please make your way to the ‘Will Call’ tent in Town Square. If there is availability when all ticket-holders have made their way through the line, then we will admit will-call on a first-come first-served basis.
6. Who can volunteer? Anyone affiliated with UC San Diego - staff, faculty, students, retirees, alumni - can sign up to volunteer. Volunteers will receive a meal ticket and t-shirt as a token of appreciation for their service.
   
7. If I volunteer, do I need to register for a lunch ticket? NO - You only need to fill out the volunteer form. You do not need to register for a lunch ticket.
