Daniel Carrillo

Biography 

Daniel Carrillo (he/him/his) has been part of the UC San Diego community for 13 years and serves as a Senate Analyst with the Academic Senate.

As a first-generation college graduate and higher education professional, he joined the Staff Association because he understands the importance of finding a sense of belonging on campus. He believes the relationships we build with one another are what help us navigate challenges, celebrate successes, and create a stronger, more connected staff community. As Inclusion Chair, Daniel is passionate about helping staff discover the communities and connections that make UC San Diego feel like home.

One of Daniel's favorite places on campus is any high up outdoor space facing west. Outside of work, he enjoys movies and television (and is always looking for recommendations!), spending time with family at Balboa Park's museums and the San Diego Zoo, discovering dog-friendly restaurants, and supporting community-based organizations.

He encourages staff to:

1. Champions equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives for the Staff Association.
2. Maintains active involvement with equity, diversity, and inclusion topics across the campus while incorporating relevant priorities in the UCSD Staff Association. Coordinates quarterly educational speaker(s) or activity(ies) focusing on EDI topics for the Staff Association Executive Board meetings.
3. Serves as the Staff Association representative on the Advisory Council.
4. Oversees committee (ad hoc).
5. Other tasks – voluntary and assigned by Chair.
