Leanna Salas

Marketing and Communication Chair

Biography

Leanna Salas (she/her/hers) serves as the Marketing and Communications Chair for Staff Association. Professionally, she works as a Project Management Analyst in Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions within the Logistics department. She has been part of the university community for nearly six years, four as a student worker and almost two as full-time staff.

Leanna joined the Staff Association to learn more about the many departments across campus and to broaden her professional relationships. She is passionate about communication, strategic thinking, and teamwork, and she brings those strengths to furthering the association’s mission of connecting and engaging the staff community.

Her favorite spots on campus include the courtyard by the CSE building (especially in the fall) and the ocean view near Isaacs Hall at SIO, where she enjoys watching horizon. Outside of work, Leanna enjoys reading, exploring new restaurants, visiting farmers markets and swap meets, and spending time with her partner and her dog, Albert. She also collects teddy bear-inspired treasures, such as Care Bears, Rilakkuma, and all things Sanrio, and has recently been honing her baking skills. Leanna is first gen alumna of UC San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science.

Her advice to new staff is:

“You have more control over your experience here than you may realize. Make space in your schedule for what matters—whether that’s connecting with colleagues, attending an event that interests you, or taking a mental health day when you need it. Prioritize your wellness and give yourself grace each day to truly enjoy your time here.”
