Biography
Sophia Limon (she/her/hers) serves as the Assessment Chair for Staff Association. Professionally, she works in Health Sciences as a Regulatory. She has been with the university for 3 years.
Sophia joined the Staff Association to be part of a collaborative community that values the voice of staff and works to make UC San Diego a place where everyone can thrive. In her role as Assessment Chair, she is passionate about understanding the unique culture of UC San Diego, using data and insights to guide growth, and fostering connections that strengthen the collective impact of the staff community.
Her favorite spot on campus is her own office! Not just because it’s where she works, but because it’s where meaningful conversations happen, ideas take shape, and authentic connections with colleagues are built. Even in a hybrid schedule, being in her office keeps her grounded, inspired, and immersed in the campus energy.
Outside of work, Sophia enjoys swimming, running, and volunteering. Her advice to new staff is to:
“Embrace UC San Diego not just as a workplace, but as a community. Take the time to learn about the resources, opportunities, and people here. People you meet will enrich your career and your life. Speak up, get involved, and know that your voice matters. And remember to stay curious, keep learning, and find joy in the connections you build along the way.”
Duties
- Collaborates with assessment-related constituents, tracks assessment related to the Staff Association, and ensures active use of data to improve the Staff Association.
- Collaborates with the campus, UCOP, CUCSA, and other UCSD-related data collection to share with UCSD Staff Association.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements assessment initiatives to compliment or enhance currently available data, as needed.
- Synthesizes information into a report delivered annually.
- Assists in tracking and packaging impact of UCSD Staff Association efforts towards our strategic plan goals, includes in a regular reporting.
- Coordinates Staff Association engagement goals by reviewing and sharing engagement metrics Staff@Work and the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) Engagement Survey to meet.
- Oversees Engagement Survey Action Committee (renamed from “team”).
- Other tasks – voluntary and assigned by Chair.
